Classroom Parents help make it easier for teachers, families, and the PTA to stay connected throughout the year.
The Classroom Parentis role is mostly about helping with communication, coordination, and a few classroom needs throughout the year.
What does a Classroom Parent do?
Classroom Parents may help:
- Share reminders and classroom-specific information with families
- Help teachers coordinate volunteers when needed
- Organize or support classroom celebrations
- Help with teacher/staff appreciation
- Welcome new families to the class
- Encourage participation in school and PTA events
- Help connect families with questions to the right person
- Support other small classroom needs that come up during the year
You are not expected to do everything yourself. A big part of the role is simply helping connect people and asking for help when it is needed. You do not need to be available during the school day, attend every event, or take on a huge commitment.
Interested in being a Classroom Parent?
We would love to have one or more Classroom Parents for every class. Classroom parents will be selected in consultation with the teacher.
This can be a great fit if you:
- Like helping people stay connected
- Want to be involved but need something flexible (does not have to be during work hours or on-site)
- Enjoy organizing or communicating
- Want to help your teacher without committing to an in-class weekly volunteer schedule

A Few Helpful Guidelines
- Follow your teacher’s lead. Every classroom is different.
- Keep participation optional and low-pressure.
- Include everyone. Classroom activities should be welcoming and accessible to all families.
- Protect privacy. Use family contact information only for classroom/PTA communication.
- Ask for help. You are a connector, not a one-person event committee.
- No experience required. We can help you figure it out as you go.
